After spending countless hours in Last Epoch since early access, whether you’re a new player or a seasoned veteran looking to refine your strategy, these 10 tips will help you get more XP, farm better gear, and progress deeper into the endgame. Having a lot of Last Epoch gold can also be very helpful.
1. Maximize XP Gains While Leveling
To get the most XP possible, fight enemies that are slightly higher level than you—ideally up to 10 levels above. The game rewards you with bonus XP when battling tougher foes. If you’re equal to or above the area level, don’t waste time killing everything—just run through quickly to your next objective.
Focus your efforts on magic and rare mobs, as they give the biggest XP rewards. Efficient leveling is about quality, not quantity.
2. Use XP-Rewarding Echoes for Fast Leveling
When farming Monoliths, prioritize Echoes that grant XP tomes as rewards. Completing these Echoes gives far more XP than just grinding mobs. Move strategically across the web—select Echoes that lead toward more XP nodes and finish only the main objectives before moving on.
For normal Monoliths, try traveling along the right side of the map to reach the level 90 Monoliths faster. Completing those unlocks Empowered Monoliths, where true endgame progression begins.
3. Farm Exalted Gear for Future Characters
If you plan to play multiple characters per season, you can prepare now by farming Exalted gear.
Use your loot filter to highlight any Exalted item with Tier 7 affixes, and stash them for future use. You can even filter for specific affixes your next build will need.
Take it one step further—highlight items with two or more Exalted affixes. These are extremely valuable bases for endgame crafting and can become BiS (best-in-slot) items for your next alt.
4. Salvage Smarter With Rune of Removal
When salvaging items for crafting materials, don’t just use the Rune of Shattering—it gives random results. Instead, use Rune of Removal to target specific affixes.
For example, if you remove a Tier 3 Hybrid Health affix, you’ll get exactly three Hybrid Health shards. Combine this with a Glyph of Hope for a 25% chance to preserve forging potential.
Once an item’s forging potential runs out, finish it off with a Rune of Shattering as a final attempt to grab any remaining affixes you need.
5. Craft Set Bonuses Onto Regular Gear
Set items often get ignored because they can’t roll Legendary Potential (LP). But here’s a secret—you can still use their bonuses without equipping the actual set.
In the Woven Echo called The Great Bridge, salvage set items to get Set Shards. Then, craft those shards onto your normal gear. If you reach the required number of affixes, you’ll activate the full set bonus.
This trick allows you to enjoy powerful set effects while keeping your main gear optimized with your desired stats.
6. Upgrade Unique Items’ Legendary Potential
Farming uniques with high Legendary Potential (LP) can be a grind. Instead of waiting for a perfect drop, you can increase LP using the Farside Turtle Woven Echo.
Place a unique item with LP inside the ritual at the end of this echo to reroll its LP. Most rolls will drop to 0, but by stacking duplicates, you raise your odds of hitting a higher LP.
Even if it hits zero, you can restore LP using the Nemesis system—so never discard low-LP uniques you might need later.
7. Save Time With Fast Travel Shortcuts
A small but essential quality-of-life trick: right-click on your map destination to instantly teleport there.
This saves hundreds of unnecessary clicks over time and makes travel between towns, Monoliths, and echoes much faster. It’s a simple habit that greatly streamlines your gameplay experience.
8. Push Corruption Efficiently
Corruption boosts XP, loot rarity, and challenge—but increasing it can be tedious. The fast route is through the Shade of Orobyss echoes.
Defeat timeline bosses to collect Gazes of Orobyss. With eight or more gazes, the Shade echo will spawn after your next completed echo.
Equip a Harbinger’s Needle to gain more gazes per boss kill, and use Temporal Keystones to raise difficulty.
As a bonus, progress in the Forgotten Knights faction to improve your Harbinger drop rates and gain even more corruption per run.
9. Sync Corruption Across Characters
If your main character already has high corruption, you can share that progress with your alts.
Complete a Cemetery and reach the Altar of the Weaver to access Woven Echoes. Place a Confluence of Oblivion echo in your Monolith web.
Once you defeat the Shade of Orobyss inside, the corruption level of that timeline will match the highest corruption achieved on your account, saving hours of grinding on new characters.
10. Understand Damage Scaling
Damage scaling is crucial for high corruption runs. Flat damage from weapons gives the biggest immediate increase, but it’s also important to know the difference between Increased Damage and More Damage.
“Increased” adds up all your bonuses before applying them, while “More” multiplies your total damage afterward—making it much stronger.
In general, prioritize “More Damage” modifiers when possible, as they multiply your output instead of just adding to it.
Final Thoughts
These 10 tips can dramatically enhance your Last Epoch experience—from faster leveling and smarter crafting to mastering endgame corruption scaling.
Experiment with these techniques, adjust them to your playstyle, and you’ll find yourself progressing faster and enjoying the game even more. Having a lot of cheap Last Epoch gold can also enhance your gaming experience.
