More than 260 million RuneScape accounts have been created since its release in 2001. In this fantasy MMORPG, many players like to take risks, and if you just started, it can be daunting. Unless, that is, you don't have a guide to help you. Given that you can do a lot of things, we've put together this handy guide to walk you through the first few hours of RuneScape. You will immediately find a specific corner of Gielinor.

Follow the path

After completing the tutorial, you will be taken to Gielinor, where you will find yourself entering the path system. It is highly recommended that novices and veterans follow the path system and also buy OSRS gold as it will guide you through many game functions. This includes daily challenges and setting up a bank PIN. You will also get three missions to complete, which are the correct introduction to different combat styles of melee, magic and range.

The Path System also provides you with a set of entry devices and experience lights to help you improve your combat skills as early as possible. Once you have completed the route, you are free to explore or choose a new one. There are a few paths that can teach you more about your skills and encourage you to explore the game world further.

However, if you want to explore Gielinor freely, you can turn off the path system. To do this, open the Adventures tab, select the Path option, and click Close Path. Note that although you will lose progress on the current task you set, you will not lose any task progress overall.

Set off on an adventure

Get out of the woods and get out of the tutorial, your adventure will really start. Tasks are the best way to find a task, and you can view all available adventures in the Task List tab - you can drill down into the details by clicking on the journal entry in the device and skill experience. Here you can find information about where to start the task, its level of difficulty, what the requirements are, any recommended items and, above all, the rewards. It is really convenient.

Don't worry, free RuneScape players can perform many tasks. If you want a furry companion, a good starting point is to head to West Varrock and talk to Gertrude. Completing her mission will reward you with a kitten and some cooking experience (don't worry, the two will not be combined). At the same time, the One Piercing Note mission, found outside the St. Elspeth Citharede Abbey east of Al Kharid, provides a mystery of murder that can solve the death problem in your monastery.

Build up your character

As you would expect, upgrading skills is an important part of RuneScape because it unlocks new skills, equipment and missions. There are 27 skills, 17 of which are available to free gamers. Even so, you can still immerse your toes in member-specific skills like Divination, but their upper limit is level 5 - usually, the skill can be trained to level 99. Even some skills can reach 120.

While you may be inclined to focus on one skill training, we recommend that novices try to extend the training content to all skills so that you have a full personality. However, the whole experience is very easy, you can choose how much you want to invest in the skill process. It's also worth noting that there are no courses to worry about, so you can try anything you like.

Get a handle on combat

Back in 2012, Jagex released an update called Evolutionary Evolution (EoC) that fundamentally changed the way you participate in MMOs. It adds dual wielding, ranged weapons and magical abilities. Players who like old-fashioned fighting can still choose the traditional mode to fight, which simplifies the battle between automatic attacks and special attacks.

When you create a role, you will be asked if you have played RuneScape. If you choose "Never Play", the default is "Traditional Mode", but it is worthwhile to switch to EoC battle once you feel comfortable. Head to rsgoldfast for some in-game golds and be brave in a safe place.
