How to Get There

Fast Travel to Zadra's Backup Plan (Zadra's Headquarters).

Instead of exiting the main cave, head towards the back door of her base.

Follow the path through a side cave leading directly to the Abandoned Augur Mine entrance.

Once the story lock is removed, you can proceed inside.

Navigating the Mine to the Boss

The path to the Backhive is one of the more complex mine routes, involving platforming and environmental hazards.

Step-by-Step Route:

Initial Jump: From the first major area, jump off the platform, glide, and land on the obvious ledge ahead.

Wall Climb & Hazard: Jump and climb onto the adjacent wall. Beware of Cratch enemies flying around; they can knock you into the deadly goo below.

The Key Grapple Point (Common Mistake): After the wall climb, you'll reach an open area with a high platform. Do not try to circle around. Look up and to the left for a grapple point. Use it to swing across.

Final Approach: After the grapple, glide carefully to the next platform (avoid overshooting). One final wall climb and glide will land you on the boss's ledge.

Boss Arena: The Backhive spawns here. Use the respawn portal and red chest in the back after each kill.

Pro Tip: You do not need Ultimate Mode active for this farm. All dedicated drops can be obtained on any difficulty.

1. Triple Bypass (Rep Kit) - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Gold Text: Heart Pump

Effect: Has 3 charges. Killing an enemy has a 30% chance to replenish a charge. Perfect for sustained mobbing.

Stats (Example): Restores 3,925 health instantly + 3,925 health over 10 seconds. 21-second cooldown.

Red Text: "Not today." (Potential Game of Thrones reference).

Verdict: Arguably one of the best Rep Kits in the game for survivability. Farm for one with a useful "On Use" perk like Action Skill Cooldown Rate or Bonus Elemental Damage.

2. Cinder Shell (Shield) - NOT RECOMMENDED

Effect:

Taking damage grants a stack of Resolve, reducing damage taken by 2% per stack (max 25 stacks = 50% reduction).

When the shield breaks, it releases a nova. The nova's base damage is increased by 20% per Resolve stack.

Stats (Example): High capacity (~18k). Can spawn with elemental resistance.

Red Text: "Skip to the end."

Verdict: Largely ineffective. Testing shows the damage reduction is not noticeable in combat, and the nova damage is negligible even at max stacks. Consider this a completionist farm only.

3. Stop Gap (Sniper Rifle) - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Gold Text: "Reconfigure when firing: fire rate decreases down to 20%, but your damage will increase to 750%."

Effect: A unique Vladof sniper. Holding the trigger steadily decreases fire rate while massively increasing damage, up to 750%.

Stats (Example): High base damage. Can spawn in any element or non-elemental. Often rolls with useful underbarrels.

Red Text: "Do better, try harder."

Gameplay Tip: You can hip-fire this weapon accurately. It melts bosses and badasses. Pair it with a Vladof Enhancement for maximum damage.

Verdict: A top-tier sniper. The damage ramp is incredibly powerful, making it viable for both bossing and clearing tough enemies.

Farming Strategy & Final Tips

Efficiency: The run to the boss is longer than average. Consider optimizing your build for mobility to make repeats faster.

Elemental Weakness: The Backhive is weak to Fire damage. While not mandatory (as shown in the video), using Fire weapons will speed up kills.

Target Loot: Focus on acquiring the Triple Bypass Rep Kit and the Stop Gap sniper. The Cinder Shell is not worth dedicated farming.
