The Ardougne Easy Diary is one of the more straightforward achievement diaries in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), but it still has a few tricky steps that can catch players off guard. Completing it provides useful rewards, including the Ardougne Cloak 1 and an XP lamp that can be put toward any skill above level 30. In this guide, I'll walk you through each task in the diary, explain the fastest travel methods, and highlight a few common pitfalls-especially helpful if you need to quickly gear up or restock supplies, or if you choose to buy OSRS gold to speed up certain steps.
Achievement diaries in OSRS are designed to encourage exploration of specific regions and provide valuable perks. The Ardougne Cloak 1 offers unlimited teleports to the Ardougne Monastery, a very handy location near training spots and quest hubs. You'll also earn an antique lamp that grants 2,500 XP in any skill of your choice (as long as it's above level 30). Many players put this into Slayer or Agility to help with long-term goals.
Before starting, make sure you have:
· A rusty sword (needed for Tindel the merchant to identify). If you don't already have one, they can be obtained from monsters like the Crazy Archaeologist.
· Coins (for identifying the sword and trading with the silk merchant).
· Teleportation methods (a Dramen staff for fairy rings, a Ring of dueling, and Ardougne teleports are very helpful).
· Stamina or energy potions for quicker travel.
· Silk and swamp paste (for merchant trades and the Fishing Trawler minigame).
Start by traveling to Yanille. The fastest method is using the fairy ring code CIQ, which lands you just northwest of the city. Enter Alec's shop, right-click, and select “Trade” to complete the task.
Head south to Port Khazard. The fairy ring code DJP takes you close to the Tower of Life, from which you can run to the docks. Board the Fishing Trawler and wait for the boat to depart.
During the minigame, you'll fend off Kraken attacks, repair nets, and patch holes with swamp paste. Even if you're confused, simply staying on the trawler until it docks will complete the requirement.
Once back on land, speak to Tindel the merchant at Port Khazard. Hand him a rusty sword, and he'll attempt to restore it. There's a small chance of failure, so bringing a backup sword is recommended.
Teleport to Ardougne and head to the market in the east square. Right-click a stall and attempt to steal a cake. Guards may attack you, but as long as you successfully snatch one, the task will complete.
While still in East Ardougne, speak with the silk merchant. Offer your silk for 120 coins, then agree to sell it for 60 coins. This haggling sequence must be completed exactly for the task to count.
Travel slightly northwest of East Ardougne to find Probita. Right-click her and choose “Check” to view which of your pets are insured. This is also a good reminder to insure any pets you don't want to risk losing.
Enter the church located in East Ardougne and pray at the altar while having less than full prayer points. To lower your points, activate a protection prayer briefly before using the altar.
In West Ardougne, pull the lever that teleports you to deep wilderness. Once there, you can immediately use the lever again to return. Bank all valuables beforehand to avoid losing them to potential PKers.
North of West Ardougne is the Combat Training Camp. Simply enter the gate to complete the task. This area becomes important later for quests like Biohazard and Regicide.
Finally, head back to East Ardougne and enter the Flying Horse Inn. Speak to Two-pints to claim your reward: the Ardougne Cloak 1 and an XP lamp.
Congratulations-you've completed the Ardougne Easy Diary! You now have:
· Ardougne Cloak 1: unlimited teleports to the monastery.
· 2,500 XP lamp for any skill above level 30.
· Useful progress toward the Medium and Hard diaries.
Most players recommend using the XP lamp on Slayer, since the skill is slow to train and provides access to powerful content later. Alternatively, Agility or Herblore are strong options if you want long-term utility.
Bring multiple teleports to speed things up. Fairy rings are your best friend here. Always bank before pulling the wilderness lever-many players forget this and risk expensive gear. If you fail the rusty sword identification, try again with your backup, or consider using the cheapest OSRS gold to quickly replace lost supplies and continue your progress. With the Ardougne Easy Diary complete, you're one step closer to the higher-tier diaries that provide even greater perks. From here, consider preparing for the Ardougne Medium Diary or exploring other easy diaries like the Desert or Kandarin ones.
